Product Branding Brief
UpNorth Distribution expanded its product lineup with Daze Off, a new line of premium cannabis strains designed to embody leisure and laid-back luxury. To bring this vision to life, they partnered with me to develop a complete product branding package that would stand out in a competitive California market—and resonate emotionally with consumers.
As a freelance designer, I created a custom logo, strain-specific color palettes, and packaging artwork, delivering a cohesive brand identity that captured the spirit of Daze Off from first glance.
The Challenge
UpNorth needed branding that would:
- Visually express the calming, immersive nature of Daze Off strains
- Differentiate between Indica, Sativa, and Hybrid products
- Feel premium and collectible, not generic
- Comply with cannabis packaging regulations while maintaining visual storytelling
The goal was to make Daze Off instantly recognizable—and irresistible—on crowded dispensary shelves.
My Solution
I worked collaboratively with UpNorth’s team to shape every aspect of the Daze Off brand identity:
- Logo Design:
Crafted a vaporwave-inspired logo featuring “Daze Off” set over an orange sun and color-gradient bands, evoking the feel of a dreamy sunset. - Strain Color Palettes:
Developed distinct palettes for each product type:- Purple/Pink for Indica’s soothing effects
- Yellow/Orange for Sativa’s energizing vibe
- Green/Blue for Hybrid’s balanced nature
- Label and Packaging Design:
Designed detailed label artwork for eighth jars and custom tamper-proof stickers—ensuring regulatory compliance without sacrificing style.
Each design choice reinforced the Daze Off ethos: quality, relaxation, and elevated experiences.

The Daze Off branding launch was a resounding success:
